Directions:

  • In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of milk to create a smooth slurry. 
  • Set aside.
  • In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk over medium heat until warm, but not boiling. 
  • Stir in the cocoa powder and sugar until dissolved.
  • Add the chopped dark chocolate and whisk continuously until melted and smooth.
  • Slowly pour in the cornstarch mixture, whisking constantly. 
  • Allow the mixture to cook for 2–3 minutes until it thickens to a creamy, custard-like consistency.
  • Pour into mugs, garnish with whipped cream or grated chocolate.
  • Serve immediately.
