- Grease and flour an 8 inch round pan.
- In a bowl, mix together all the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda and salt).
- Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together butter, white sugar and brown sugar.
- Whisk until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs (one at a time).
- Add vanilla essence and whisk well.
- Add in the mixed dry ingredients alternately with milk.
- Mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan.
- Preheat the oven to 175 degrees C (350 degrees F).
- Bake for 30-35 mins or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool completely.
