  • In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. 
  • Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and melted butter. 
  • Kneading until a smooth dough forms.
  • Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. 
  • Roll each piece into a rope and shape it into a pretzel.
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda. 
  • Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds, then transfer to the baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle the pretzels with coarse salt and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let the pretzels cool slightly before serving.
