Description
Sattu Ka Sharbat is a traditional and refreshing drink popularly consumed during Ramadan due to its hydrating and nutritious properties. During Ramadan, it holds significance as it provides instant energy, keeps the body hydrated during fasting hours, and is easy to digest. Its cooling properties make it a perfect choice for breaking the fast (Iftar), helping to replenish lost nutrients and maintain hydration levels.
Here’s a unique recipe for nutritious and revitalizing Sattu Ka Sharbat to make this delightful beverage;
Directions:
- In a bowl, add barley, and water, clean impurities, wash a few times, and strain well.
- Add water and soak for 4 hours, after soaking, strain well and let it dry completely on muslin cloth.
- In a wok, add barley and dry roast on low flame until brown (18-20 minutes) and keep mixing continuously (wait for cracking sound).
- Let it cool down.
- In a blender, add roasted barley and blend to make a fine powder and strain with the help of the strainer. The Sattu is ready.
- Can be stored in an airtight jar for up to 3 months (yields approx. 500 gms).
- In a serving glass, add jaggery, Sattu, water, lemon juice, and black salt and mix thoroughly.
- Add ice cubes & serve!
