During Ramadan, it holds significance as it provides instant energy, keeps the body hydrated during fasting hours, and is easy to digest. Its cooling properties make it a perfect choice for breaking the fast (Iftar), helping to replenish lost nutrients and maintain hydration levels.

Here’s a unique recipe for nutritious and revitalizing Sattu Ka Sharbat to make this delightful beverage;

  • In a bowl, add barley, and water, clean impurities, wash a few times, and strain well.
  • Add water and soak for 4 hours, after soaking, strain well and let it dry completely on muslin cloth.
  • In a wok, add barley and dry roast on low flame until brown (18-20 minutes) and keep mixing continuously (wait for cracking sound).
  • Let it cool down.
  • In a blender, add roasted barley and blend to make a fine powder and strain with the help of the strainer. The Sattu is ready.
