Directions:

  • In a bowl, put the yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, oregano, salt, and pepper, and combine to make the tzatziki sauce. 
  • Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Season the thinly sliced meat with salt, pepper, and oregano. 
  • Cook the meat in a pan over medium heat until browned and cooked through.
  • Warm the pita bread rounds in a skillet or oven until soft and pliable.
  • To assemble the gyros, spread a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on each pita bread. Top with cooked meat, sliced tomatoes, onions, and lettuce.
  • Roll up the pita tightly, securing it with parchment paper or foil if needed.
  • Serve the gyros warm with extra tzatziki sauce on the side for dipping.
