Description
Saunf ka Sharbat is a traditional and refreshing drink enjoyed during Ramadan for its cooling properties and digestive benefits. This unique beverage combines the aromatic flavors of fennel seeds (saunf), sugar, and Green cardamom to create a delightful drink perfect for breaking the fast. It helps soothe the stomach and aids in digestion after a day of fasting, while its refreshing taste provides a cooling effect during the hot summer days of Ramadan.
Here’s the recipe for a soothing and digestive drink Saunf Ka Sharbat;
Directions:
- In a bowl, put fennel seeds and water, mix, and soak for 4-5 hours.
- In another bowl, add green cardamom and water, mix, and soak for 4-5 hours.
- In the grinder, add soaked fennel seeds, green cardamom, black peppercorns, and water, and grind well then strain well with the help of the strainer.
- In the grinder, add the remaining fennel seed residues, water and grind well, and strain again.
- In the wok, add strained fennel seeds water, and sugar and mix well, bring it to a boil and cook on medium-low flame for 15-20 minutes and keep mixing in between.
- If there is any scum on the surface end spoon it off.
- Add lemon juice and mix well.
- Let it cool down.
- Can be stored in a refrigerator for up to 1 month (yields approx. 600 ml).
- In a serving glass, add prepared fennel seeds sharbat, water, and stir.
- Add ice cubes & serve!
